Artists and creatives based in and around Lincoln are invited to propose creative activities as part of a ‘Youth Arts Day’ on Saturday 29th March 2025 at Lincoln Youth Matters.
The Opportunity
In collaboration with local young people, Rooted Arts invites artists and creatives to propose activities for a Youth Arts Day at Lincoln Youth Matters (found in the Yarborough Leisure Centre Car Park, LN1 3PT) on Saturday 29th March 2025, aimed at ages 11-18. The activities and workshops could be an hour or a full day, limited numbers or drop in, to suit the activity. Initial ideas from young people include:
Dance: hip-hop, street dance, a dance day with different styles
Writing: story, poetry
Music: singing, song writing, guitar, rap, digital
Art: drawing, digital drawing, printing
Drama
Digital: games design
The proposals will be presented back to young people during w/c 24th February to be selected and a full programme confirmed by Monday 3rd March.
Eligibility
There are limited criteria, however:
Priority will be given to artists and creatives based in Lincoln, especially those with connections to Ermine and the surrounding areas
You must have valid public liability insurance and if successful, collaborate on producing risk assessments for project activities
Experience of working with young people and a DBS clearance will be advantageous
Budget
The budget for the delivery on the day is approximately £1000, to cover creative fees and associated costs (such as materials) but excluding management/marketing costs. Proposals should keep in mind that this budget is limited and we are looking to build a programme with a variety of creatives involved, so expect submissions to be between £150 – £450 depending on the length of the session, materials required etc.
Submission
Please email proposals to chelsey@rootedarts.org.uk by 5pm on Monday 24th February, clearly marked ‘Youth Arts Day’. The submission should include the following information:
Outline of the activity with accompanying images or video, including duration and participant capacity
Budget for the activity to include all costs for artist fees, materials and equipment
An example of your previous work e.g. a website, socials, videos etc.
We are also happy to accept the above in audio or video format. Applicants are welcome to contact us on chelsey@rootedarts.org.uk with any questions.
Selection will be based on the quality of your proposal, balanced with budget and programme requirements. Young people will be central to the decision making process, guided by Rooted Arts and partners, so it may be worth considering how the proposal will be appealing to them.
Applicants will be contacted with the outcome during w/c Monday 3rd March.
This opportunity is kindly supported by using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and UK Shared Prosperity Fund via City of Lincoln Council’s Community Chest Grant Scheme in Castle Ward. Plus the support of Lincoln Youth Matters at Lincolnshire County Council.
