This February, join us for a vibrant celebration of community and creativity across Ermine and Moorland. Discover something new in your local community, connect with neighbours, see a show, take part in a creative workshop and have fun!

All activities are free (donations are always welcome to help us continue our work!) but some do require pre-booking.

tUESDAY 18 fEBRUARY

Lincoln Youth Matters (In the Yarborough Leisure Centre Car Park) LN1 3PT

Interactive Storytelling and Craft with Rhubarb Theatre

9.30 – 10.30am and 11am – 12noon

Inspired by The Way Back Home by Oliver Jeffers, discover this magical journey of friendship and exploration with Rhubarb Theatre, through interactive activities and creative crafts.

Mini Me Craft with The Elbow Room

10.30am – 12.30pm and 1.15 – 3.15pm

Create and decorate your own little ‘mini me’, design clothes, and create a little house or dream space! There will be lots of colourful paper, pens, and stampers to use.

Family Monster

12.30 – 1.15pm

Create your own family monster with writer and artist Sophie Lloyd.

In this short workshop, families will work together to create their own nature-inspired creature, with each person contributing part of the drawing to the illustration. Using flashcards and simple ideas generation methods, families will have their own, one-of-a-kind artwork to take home.

Suitable for ages 4+. Minimum of one parent/guardian and one child required.

Chain Tales

1.30 – 2.15pm

Create your own family short story with writer and artist Sophie Lloyd.

In this short workshop, families will work together to write their own “chain tale,” with each person contributing a few words or lines to the story. Using flashcards and simple ideas generation methods, families will have their own, one-of-a-kind tale to take home.

Suitable for ages 7+. Minimum of one parent/guardian and one child required.

Aerial and Circus Skills

12.15-1.15pm

1.45-2.45pm

Join us for an exciting workshop with Creative Heights to try aerial and circus skills! Creative Heights pop up workshops will give participants the opportunity to trial aerial apparatus as well as learn and play with a range of ground based activities like poi, juggling and diablo.

The sessions are open to all aged 4+ and children must be supervised at all times. No need to book, just drop in but please note there might be a wait to try the different activities.

Shadow Puppet Theatre Workshop with Barmpot Theatre

10am – 1pm

Create and experiment with shadow puppets, and learn how to create your own shadow puppet theatre at home.

Airport Alien with Rhubarb Theatre

2 – 3pm

It’s the summer of 1974 at the world’s busiest airport. Everyone’s excited about their holidays. But what’s this arriving on the runway? A spaceship from another planet! Arvi the Alien has been sent from Planet X. Her mission – to find happiness. Rhubarb Theatre, known for their imaginative styles of storytelling, perform this fun filled fantasy for all the family. AIRPORT ALIEN is a show told through visual inventiveness, puppetry, physical theatre, dance, song and lots of laughter.

At Rhubarb Theatre, we love to play with funny characters, places and situations. Come and join us for an hour of silliness and find out how we make up our shows.

Family Dance Session with Go Dance Lincoln

1 – 1.45pm

Join Go Dance for a fun dance session to get the entire family moving. No experience necessary and we promise you’ll leave with a smile on your face!

The Hare and the Moon with Hoglets Theatre

2 – 2.40pm

“The Moon has been watching the world since time began. I wonder how many stories it has to tell?” Have you ever wondered why when the Moon is full, the shadow of a Hare is cast across its face? When a stranger wanders into the woods all the animals try to help them. But Hare has no gift to give. How far will she go to make another happy? Hoglets Theatre will take you on a magical journey, exploring the true meaning of kindness using interactive storytelling, puppetry and original music.

Create your own simple hare puppet with Gemma from Hoglets Theatre.

Saturday 22 February

Community Bunting Making

Drop in on Friday afternoon or throughout the day on Saturday to make a flag for our community bunting.

This is also a space is other paper, pens, colouring available and you’re welcome to bring your own snacks and stay as long as you like!

Moorland Community Ceramic Mural Workshop with Quite Contrary Pottery

10am – 12noon and 1 – 3pm

Let us know what Moorland means to you by immortalising your design of community, home or family onto a ceramic tile which will form part of a larger mural. Jen and Lucy will guide you through the process of designing and sculpting your tile which will be fired and glazed back at Quite Contrary Pottery and returned to be installed into a mural displayed here in Moorland.

Taiko Drumming Workshops

10 – 10.45am ages 3-7

10.45 – 11.30am ages 7-10

11.30am – 12.30pm ages 11+ and adults

Taiko is Japanese ensemble drumming and incorporates drumming patterns, choreographed movements and energy shouts to create powerful and exciting performances. Taiko is accessible for anyone and really fun! Join Humber Taiko for an exciting session to try this for yourself!

These activities are supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and UK Shared Prosperity Fund via City of Lincoln Council’s Community Chest Grant Scheme in Minster, Castle and Moorland wards. The project is also supported by Voluntary Centre Services as part of their Moorland Community Development Project, and Bishop Grosseteste University at Ermine Library and Community Hub, with funding from UK Shared Prosperity Fund via City of Lincoln Council.
